My name is Michael Moore-Jones.

I’m 17 and live in Wellington, New Zealand, although throughout my life I have lived in the U.S.A., the Cook Islands, the Philippines, and Spain.

I’m the founder of They Don’t Teach You This In School – a website that helps young people learn from the knowledge and experience of successful people. Check out the website to find out more about it.

I’m also a Co-Founder of Duo - a new web service whose vision is to “keep important relationships personal, private, and memorable in a time when it is becoming almost impossible to do so”.

I’m absolutely passionate about technology and business because there is no limit to what they can achieve. A new technology is breaking into undiscovered areas of our world, and it will progress society without having to remove value from another part of society in the process.

I have written for various blogs and publications on technology and business topics, such as ReadWriteWeb and Social Media NZ, along with national New Zealand newspapers. Social Media NZ has sent me to various conferences, including LeWeb in Paris and X Media Lab in Sydney.

I have consulted to a number of organisations on social media, and am involved in various startups, both social ventures and tech companies.

In July 2011 I was selected as the initial member of the first ever Digital Life Academy, a 6-week internship held in Singapore.

In the future I am going to work on Internet applications that make people’s lives better and easier. I’m also going to work on education. For everything that technology can accomplish, it doesn’t mean anything unless it improves lives.

This blog is a way for me to sort out my own thinking on various topics, and also to share interesting things I discover with everyone. The reason I blog is to hear about other people’s views and opinions, so please leave me a comment or send me an email with your thoughts.

Thanks for visiting, and hope you’ll get in touch soon.
