About

I am currently a PhD student at Victoria University of Wellington, where I lecture and teach undergraduate art history. My research in art history and literature looks at international influences on New Zealand’s modernism and cultural nationalism.

I studied art history at the University of Oxford, with a thesis on New Zealand artist Gordon Walters. Earlier, I studied philosophy, politics and economics at Yale-NUS College, with a thesis on the philosophy and history of liberal education.

My writing is published in a range of publications. Most recently I have been contributing to Newsroom NZ, Here Magazine and Hamish McKay Gallery’s publications.

I’m from Wellington, New Zealand.
